Gatlinburg, Tennessee is home to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This is one of the most visited parks in the nation and makes Gatlinburg, Tennessee an excellent choice for your upcoming vacation. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the few places remaining in the eastern United States where black bears can live in wild, natural surroundings. The Black Bear has become a symbol for Gatlinburg, TN. Bears inhabit all elevations of the park. Though populations are variable, counts conducted in 2004 indicated approximately 1,600 bears live in the park.

Climate in Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Elevations in the park range from 800 feet to 6,643 feet and topography affects local weather. Temperatures are 10 to 20 degrees cooler on the mountaintops.  Winters tend to be mild although winter conditions do apply. Plan on winter temps as low as 20s with warm days ranging in the 50s.  Spring brings typically changeable conditions, especially in the National Park. Temperatures rebound nicely as early as March with precipitation on the increase. Summers are hot with cooler temps in the mountains, with cool and beautiful autumns. Gatlinburg Tennessee offers the joy of experiencing all four seasons in a most comfortable way.
